Award-winning actor-comedian John “Sweet” Lapus cannot be happier these days. “Doble Kara,” the afternoon soap in ABS-CBN of which he plays “ninang” to Julia Montes (who plays twins Kara and Sarah) is doing very well in the ratings and had been extended until next year. It is one of the few ABS-CBN programs that had been on the air for one year (the other is “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” starring Coco Martin).
This means the taping goes on for the next few months, until Christmas, making it a happy December for the cast members like Edgar Allan Guzman, Anjo Damiles, Carmina Villarroel and Sam Milby.
“Doble Kara” has taken the fancy of afternoon viewers who regularly watch the soap. They like the flow of the story, its many twists and turns.
But it is not only “Doble Kara” that keeps Sweet busy. He had just finished shooting his new movie under Viva Films titled “Working Beks” directed by Chris Martinez, the man behind the award-winning “Here Comes the Bride.” For Here Comes the Bride,” Sweet won his first Best Actor trophy from the Golden Screen Awards.
“I am very excited with this movie because Direk Chris wrote a very good script. Mahusay siya gumawa ng kwento na marami ang characters pero maganda ang connectioin ng characters sa bawat isa,” said Sweet.
“‘Working Beks’ is Direk Chris’ offering to the LGBT community and for sure maraming mga LGBT community members ang makaka-relate sa kwento ng limang beki sa movie.”
October is the target playdate of “Working Beks” and it is something to watch out for, said Sweet.
